A Dance with Dragons Paperback release

We are thrilled to announce that on March 15th, the fifth volume of George R.R Martin’s bestselling fantasy series,  A Dance with Dragons, will be released in paperback. Due to the epic scope of A Dance with Dragons, as with A Storm of Swords, the release has been split into two separate books – the first entitled Dreams and Dust, and the second After the Feast. With A Dance with Dragons being nominated Time magazine’s Novel of the Year, and HBO’s fantastic second TV series debuting this April, there’s never been a better time to delve into the game of thrones!

Part 1: Dreams and Dust

Tyrion Lannister, having killed his father, and wrongfully accused of killing his nephew, King Joffrey, has escaped from King’s Landing with a price on his head.

To the north lies the great Wall of ice and stone – a structure only as strong as those guarding it. Eddard Stark’s bastard son Jon Snow has been elected 998th Lord Commander of the Night’s Watch. But Jon has enemies both inside and beyond the Wall.

And in the east Daenerys Targaryen struggles to hold a city built on dreams and dust.

Avaiable from March 15 at all good bookstores and the following online retailers:

Part 2: After the Feast

In King’s Landing the Queen Regent, Cersei Lannister, awaits trial, abandoned by all those she trusted; while in the eastern city of Yunkai her brother Tyrion has been sold as a slave.

Having left his wife and the Red Priestess Melisandre under the protection of Jon Snow, Stannis Baratheon marches south to confront the Boltons at Winterfell. But beyond the Wall the wildling armies are massing for an assault…

On all sides bitter conflicts are reigniting, played out by a grand cast of outlaws and priests, soldiers and skinchangers, nobles and slaves. The tides of destiny will inevitably lead to the greatest dance of all.

  1. I simply love the Game of Thrones series. I’ve read all the books and watched the dvd’s. I cannot get enough of it. My favourite character is Tyrion and Jon Snow. I hope the book is wrong with Jon Snow and he lives to fight another day. Also he finds out who his mother is. She would have to be a Queen of one of the countries. I am really pleases these latest books are out.

  2. Why in the FUCK would a website talking about the release of a new book have the first sentence be a GIGANTIC spoiler?!? I haven’t read the fourth book yet…..thanks a whole lot Harper……why in the hell would you do this? So Tyrion kills his dad and is wrongfully accused of killing his cousin? Good to know…….wish I could have just read it in the book…….You should really take this down before you ruin the book for other people too…….seriously.

  3. Folks, this is the Hardcover book split into 2 chunks. Anyone who read A Dance with Dragons has read this content already. It’s clearly explained at the begging of the description. Book 6 is going to be entitled “Winds of Winter” and it won’t be published until 2014 at the earliest.

  4. I would also like to know what the idea is behind your publishing “part 2″ of A Storm of Swords, which appears to be a condensed version of part 1. From reading the above comments, it seems that you have done the same for A Dance with Dragons. After reading Maggie’s comment I wonder if you had a print run error as my copy of Bk3pt2 is definatley a re-print of certain chapters of Bk3pt1.

    An explanation would be appreciated.

  5. Hi, I would like to say that George RR Martin writes absolutely fabulous books. I have read the first 5 books and found them captivating! When is the next one due? I have read the other comments, and I’m baffled. I’ve read ‘A Game of Thrones’ bk 1, ‘A Clash of Kings’ bk 2, ‘A Storm of Swords’, bk 3, which was ‘Steel and Snow’ pt 1, and ‘A Storm of Swords’, pt 2 which was ‘Blood and Gold’, Bk 4 was ‘A Feast of Crows’, and bk 5 was ‘A Dance with Dragons’. None of the above were duplicates of any other book. But, I must say, bk 5 did leave a lot of questions about a lot of the previous characters, so, obviously, WHEN are we going to get book 6?? There has to be a book 6 as too much was left hanging.

  6. Hi, I am an avid reader of George R R martins A Song of Ice and Fire series, and when I saw in ASDA a new book, A dance With Dragons 2. After The Feast, I immediately purchased it and settled down for an exciting read. How dissapointed was I to discover that this book is identical to the previous book, A dance With Dragons Dreans and Dust.
I think this is an absolute scandal and would like an expalantion and at least a refund!

  7. I read the first Book 5 of a Song of Ice & Fire, i.e. A dance with Dragons and looked forward to the next volume. When Part 2 was published in March 2012, After the Feast, I ordered it immediately. Imagine my surprise when Part 2 turned out to be a identical to Part 1. What on earth is Harper playing at?

  8. I am a huge fan & enthusiast of George RR Martins epic series ‘a song of ice and fire’ and i apsolutely loved reading ‘a dance with dragons’. I am so pleased that the paperback publication is finally out, as it will be a lot easier to carry around & read! x
