These books have a special place in my heart… my dad read them to me multiple times throughout my childhood. I was already grown with my own daughter when Dad and I watched all of the Lord of the Rings movies together and spent hours discussing them and the books. He was eagerly anticipating a possible adaptation of The Hobbit when we lost him 5 years ago at Thanksgiving. The Hobbit movies are bittersweet to me now, because Dad didn’t get to see them, but I’ll always be grateful to him for introducing Bilbo and Gandalf, Thorin and Company, and then the Fellowship to me. He instilled in me a great love of reading, especially of fantasy and Tolkien’s stories above all will always have a special place in my heart!
