Richard Kadrey and Brom Talk Art at NYCC!

Ever wonder what your favorite writers are doing in their day-to-day lives? Harper Voyager authors Richard Kadrey and Brom have pretty interesting “day” jobs as a fetish photographer and artist, respectively. They’ll be doing a panel at NYCC this evening discussing their artwork and their writing, and how these intersect with the awesome SF/F worlds they create. Stop by the Author Unbound stage at 6PM to get the low-down on “The Art of Fiction, Fantasy, and Fetish.”

Here’s a quick sample of the many artistic talents of Brom and Richard Kadrey! Check it out:

This is Brom's latest book cover, for his creepy Christmas story gone-wrong, KRAMPUS.

Sir Terry Pratchett at NYCC!

The incomparable Sir Terry Pratchett will be at New York Comic Con today! The author of the Discworld series will be discussing his career, his work, and his latest book, Dodger. If you’re at NYCC, you can go to Sir Terry’s Unbound Author Stage event TODAY, at 1PM! For a full line-up of Harper Voyager NYCC events, click here.

Here’s a glimpse into the story of Dodger:

A storm. Rain-lashed city streets. A flash of lightning. A scruffy lad sees a girl leap desperately from a horse-drawn carriage in a vain attempt to escape her captors. Can the lad stand by and let her be caught again? Of course not, because he’s . . . Dodger.

Seventeen-year-old Dodger may be a street urchin, but he gleans a living from London’s sewers, and he knows a jewel when he sees one. He’s not about to let anything happen to the unknown girl—not even if her fate impacts some of the most powerful people in England.

From Dodger’s encounter with the mad barber Sweeney Todd to his meetings with the great writer Charles Dickens and the calculating politician Benjamin Disraeli, history and fantasy intertwine in a breathtaking account of adventure and mystery.

Beloved and bestselling author Sir Terry Pratchett combines high comedy with deep wisdom in this tale of an unexpected coming-of-age and one remarkable boy’s rise in a complex and fascinating world.
